Internet Marketing Seminars in the UK

Below you will find details of any internet marketing seminars that are planned to take place in the UK over the next few months. You will also find details of seminars that have been held in the past. The list is by no means exhaustive but should hopefully prove interesting or useful.

It can never be said enough that seminars attendees should always be extremely careful about what they buy when attending internet marketing seminars.

Many of the speakers present at seminars regularly across the world and are experts at selling from the stage.

No doubt some of the products are good but it is an unfortunate fact that some of the promises made from the stage are not always followed through after the money has cleared.

A great example of the problems that can arise when the buyer does not feel they have been given what they were promised from a seminar speaker can be found at Chris Cobb Scam. 2024 update: this website no longer exists but you can see it in the internet archive here: https://web.archive.org/web/20111114220404/http://www.chriscobbscam.org/

What makes this particular spat so interesting is that both parties are seminar speakers. One has more experience of speaking than the other but the email exchanges and videos prove that even experienced internet marketers can make poor decisions about seminar purchases.

The product in question seems to be one of the "we-do-it-for-you" packages that are regularly offered from the stage.

As you can see, as the time since the seminar increases the enthusiasm from the speaker declines.

Remember this next time a speaker is on stage and promising to build you a business.

Commentary - 6th January 2011

Coming into 2011 there don't seem to be many seminars organised but it's expected that dates will start to be announced shortly.

Looking back over the last few years the internet marketing seminar experience has changed considerably.

One example is the price.

Back in 2004 tickets for the UK World Internet Summit were £1697 each - although this did give you the option to bring a second person free of charge.

Fast forward to 2010 and the same event was priced at just $197 for two people - around £125 or so.

The format of WIS hasn't changed hugely over the years; it is still a multi-day event with a procession of speakers on each day. 2010's version ran over 4 days rather than 3 but in essence, the World Internet Summit is exactly the same as it was in 2004.

Why it has become so much cheaper perhaps is down to competition, or the public's perception of internet marketing seminars.

If you pay just £100 or so for a ticket to a seminar, it's unlikely you'll be taught some in-depth or advanced marketing techniques.

Most attendees would expect that each speaker will talk about a subject for an hour or so before taking half an hour to promote some "continuing education".

These cheap seminars are for the newcomer to internet marketing, the person who is looking to learn the basics.

Hence the low ticket price and high frequency of sales presentations.

Speakers will assure you that making money online is easy, just before they try to sell your their course or software.

On attending one of these seminars you shouldn't be surprised to find hundreds of other attendees squeezed into tightly packed rows of seats.

Paying a couple of thousand pounds for a seminar in 2011 should mean that you aren't "pitched to" at all. A ticket price of £1697 in 2011 would be reserved for a very specialist seminar on a particular aspect of internet marketing - or at least it should.

In 2004 seminars were few and far between but 2011 will likely see at least one big London seminar a month, if not more in the peak months.

Of course, ticket price doesn't necessarily dictate the quality of information provided at a seminar but it is a good indicator.

An event costing £50 or £100 per ticket may well provide some gems of information but exists mainly for the speakers (and organiser) to make money via sales from the back of the room.
